• Boulangerie - Eric Jacquier. Sells all types of bread from baguettes to those chewy rustic loaves. Huge selection of beautifully decorated cakes. Fine selection of breakfast croissant and pastries including le Houchard a mouth watering chocolate/ creme anglaise filled delight!
  
  
• Fromagerie. Has a huge selection of cheeses and cooked meats plus other local produce. The owner is very knowledgeable and proud of his cheeses - ask for his advice and he will give it enthusiastically as well as expecting you to sample before you buy!
  
  
• Refuge du Payot. The branch of this chain has recently opened a shop in Les Houches, and whilst quite touristy does sell a huge range of regional products including wines, jams etc and has a good ready meal section for a treat in including choucroute. 600 metres away, turning right out of Chalet Whymper:

• Shoppi Supermarche. A large supermarket with a very good butchery section. Sells everything you could possibly need including extensive dairy section with fresh milk and yogurts, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, toiletries, cleaning products, wines and spirits. It even has a special English Shelf if you can't do without your baked beans, marmite or HP sauce! There is parking outside and at the back if you're doing a big shop.
